Home | Fort Calhoun, Nebraska by Abbie Leigh

I just got back from a week at home and for the first time in my life, I was so grateful to be there. Nebraska and I have always had a love/hate relationship and I've tried to escape its grasp for most of my life. THIS time around, it was different. It was exactly what I needed. So many chapters in my life are closing right now and so many new ones are about to begin. Things have been hard and I have found out that life is going to have heartache and tears no matter how hard you try to avoid it. Being home and having the calm of small town Nebraska attitude was probably better than any prescription a doctor could have given me. When things are tough, you instinctively want to draw close to the ones you love which is why I hopped on a plane the second I knew I had a weekend open. My time was filled with nieces and nephews, birthday parties, my most beloved grandma, grilling with my dad and cycling around Ft. Calhoun with my mom. I literally couldn't have asked for a better time. I feel as if I can finally face this year and move on from so many memories that have hindered my ability to let things go and accept life for what it is.

*pushes restart* new chapter starts..................... now.
